So far, he's pretty much my hero. I don't agree with all of his plans but on the whole, he's doing a great job and a much better one than that other guy who was there before him.

Brewery Ommegang was bought out by the Belgian brewer, Duval, last year. Duval is Flemish for "devil", which from my perspective is a pretty good name for beer. I'm not a big fan of stouts but I'm a huge fan of Ommegang. I buy Hennepin, a Sassion style ale they make. It's a very decent beer, and in my local package store, a pretty good deal.

I'm all about local. I'm into local politics, the local economy and especially local food. The Belgians and Dutch and Germans make some amazing beers but there are some North American breweries that have no reason for shame.

Ommegang is one of them.

I make crab cakes out of mostly crab with some crushed up saltine crackers and a little bit of mayo to hold it all together. Fry in what you like. I usually use a combination of olive oil and something else. Don't waste expensive EVOO on frying. 2nd or 3rd press is just fine.

The "something else" is often butter or toasted sesame oil.

I fry the cakes over a medium hot fire. The idea, as far as I'm concerned, is to heat up the insides and give the outside a bit of a crust.

I usually serve with cocktail sauce (ketchup, fresh horseradish, some kind of sour citrus, hot sauce).

Sounds delicious but since I am a pescatarian I wonder if I could make it with some kind of seafood instead of turkey kind of like a giant salmon patty or crab cake.

I know it's an American beer so how good can it be right, but my favorite beer is Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout. Then again one of my favorite wines is a chocolate Merlot so I guess I have a theme going.

Just take the mailbox down, then they won't know what to do and just return everything. All joking aside that is a sad story. The Christmas cards from people that didn't know, etc would be rough. :(
